Some place or person
or something we prayed
our life to deliver
from being a slave
to a job or a chore
or the one we couldn’t save
dear god deliver us
from the dreams that we crave
the “what if’s” that seemingly
outlive the grave
as all dreams die hard
despite what we gave ~
