Once i dreamed a place to live
with kindred souls my own to give
a place of beauty, place of peace
a land far from the maddening race
Neighbors grew their food and traded
food and healing skills were needed
holding close upon the land
a prayer a song a helping hand
At last i found a land most fair
with waters clear and fragrant air
We gathered and then shared the harvest
saved the rest for winters hard frost
Gatherings were full of cheer
our lives were built around whats here
no need to travel far and wide
what we needed lay inside
Those days now seem far and distant
Many gone or just resistant
Everything comes from the store
The internet assures of more
Still the land will take me in
as i lay down to sleep again
to dream and sing the songs i leave
my whispered prayers in living trees ~
